Southport Ladies Group organised a ‘Bonkers Bingo night’ with VIPHQ Birkdale, last Friday, (May 2nd 2024) which has raised a whopping £600 for ‘Breast Cancer Prevention.’

Claire, owner of the ladies group, said,

“I chose this charity as I lost my mum to breast cancer, when she was only in her fifties, so it means a lot to me. Prevention means that women check themselves regularly and therefore can notice small signs of change, before the illness can spread. Mark, owner of VIP, has previously hosted several bingo nights for different groups in the area, which I had heard about, so I decided to do one with him for my ladies group.”

Claire sold 37 tickets to the event within just a week, whilst Mark provided the venue, drinks and bingo caller. From Prosecco on arrival to an eighties music theme, bingo and funny prizes (one being a large cardboard cut out of David Hasslehoff!) the ladies were dancing all night. There was a raffle too which helped towards the total, together with 50% of the ticket price which Mark donated to their charity.

Just three days before the event though, Claire was rushed to hospital and awaiting surgery so unfortunately was unable to attend. However, the group did a live video call to her during the event. Mark also ‘went live’ on VIPHQ Birkdale’s instagram, so she could still feel part of it from the hospital!

Zari Jafri, another lady from the group, stood in for Claire on the night and did a fantastic job with Laura Hotrsley Caglar .

‘I cannot believe that I had to miss it but I’m absolutely thrilled we raised an amazing £600 in total for Breast Cancer Prevention!!!!’ Said Claire.

“Very well done everyone ! I couldn’t be prouder of all of the ladies and thank you once again to Zari, Laura and Mark at VIP HQ Birkdale.”
